The Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials announced they will honor Housing Catalyst with three Leader in Housing Awards for 2021. The awards will be presented on November 9 at the Colorado NAHRO Leaders in Housing event in Golden, Colorado.

Leadership Through Partnership Award – Mason Place

This award to goes to an organization or business that demonstrates successful partnerships. These partnerships should be founded on mutual respect and commitment and agreed upon principles. Successful partnerships should evolve over time as circumstances warrant and common vision. The partnership goals must be clearly defined and shared.

Mason Place was honored for partnerships with the Veterans Administration, Homeward Alliance, the Larimer County Behavioral Health Grant, and the Community Paramedics Program through UC Health. These partnerships were essential to achieving Housing Catalyst’s overall Permanent Supportive Housing objective of assisting residents in:

  • Remaining stably housed
  • Increasing income or financial resources,
  • Enhancing personal health and well-being

Leadership Through Innovation Award – Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program

This award goes to the most innovative “new idea, creative thoughts, new imaginations in form of device or method” to better support residents. Innovation could be in the form of technology, resident services, property operations, maintenance, etc.  Innovations must show improvements in processes, products or services.

Housing Catalyst’s Housing Choice Voucher team was honored for creating video briefings for new voucher holders and property managers. These videos were crafted to be easily understandable for a wide range of audiences and easily accessed through the Housing Catalyst website or an emailed link. Pandemic Perseverance Award – Resident Services

This award goes to individuals, teams or programs that had the most positive impact on affordable housing residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout the pandemic, Housing Catalyst’s Resident Services Coordinators (RSCs) provided support to more than 1,300 residents, focusing on finances, education, and health. To address the unique challenges of the pandemic, staff and volunteers:

  • Served 14,000 meals
  • Created enrichment programs for children to offset closed community amenities
  • Connected residents with vaccine and mental health resources

The Colorado NAHRO Awards Program recognizes the outstanding places, people, and programs affiliated with NAHRO agency members. The awards recognize best practices among housing, redevelopment, and community agencies and provide a resource bank of information for NAHRO members
