Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Housing Voucher and what does it do?
A housing voucher is a voucher that is used to pay a portion of your rent based on your income.
Is this a first come, first served process?
No. Housing Catalyst will randomly select applicants to place on the waitlist. All eligible applications received during the waitlist opening will have an equal chance of being selected.
What is the process once my application has been submitted?
A random drawing will determine which applicants will be added to our waitlist and in which order. Applicants added to our waitlist will be pulled from our waitlist and screened for eligibility based on their placement order on the list.
If I am added to the waitlist, what happens next?
Applicants will be pulled in the order they were placed on the waitlist when vouchers are available. When an applicant is pulled from the waitlist, Housing Catalyst will ask for documentation verifying eligibility. Once eligibility is confirmed, applicant households are invited to a briefing where they will receive information about the voucher program. Applicants receive their voucher at the briefing and are then responsible for identifying an eligible rental unit in Fort Collins where they can use their voucher.
How do I inform Housing Catalyst if my address changes after I submit my application?
We need to be able to contact you by mail. Always inform Housing Catalyst of changes to your address or other contact information by completing a Waitlist Change Form. This form is located on our website under Forms & Documents. You may also pick up a form in our office or call/email to have one sent to you. Please either mail, email or fax your completed form to our office.
