On June 3, Housing Catalyst celebrated the grand opening of the updated and expanded Village on Impala.
The Village on Impala is a thoughtfully designed development in northwest Fort Collins that provides 86 homes with affordable rents. The community features four newly constructed apartment buildings, twelve renovated duplexes, a new clubhouse and leasing office, active greenspace with a playground, and pedestrian/bicycle connectivity paths.
The footprint of the redeveloped community includes the original Village on Impala (affordable duplexes managed by Housing Catalyst), as well as new construction on the former site of public housing that was repositioned through the Section 18 disposition process. The redevelopment improved the health and aesthetic of the community while more than doubling the number of affordable homes in a prime location adjacent to Poudre High School.
Sustainability and efficiency were prioritized in the Village on Impala redevelopment, complying with Enterprise Green Community and Energy Star requirements. The community includes a number of sustainable and efficient features, including Energy Star appliances, water-wise landscaping, electric vehicle (EV) charging, and solar energy offsetting resident electric costs.
At the ceremony, remarks were given by Housing Catalyst CEO Julie Brewen, Housing Catalyst Chief Real Estate Office Kristin Fritz, Housing Catalyst Commissioner Joseph Penta, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Regional Administrator Tim Geitner, State Director of Housing Alison George, CHFA Executive Director and CEO Thomas Bryan, Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas, and Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt.
Partners were recognized for their contributions to the project, including the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Colorado Division of Housing, Colorado Housing and Finance Authority, Larimer County, the City of Fort Collins, Boston Financial, ANB Bank, Gilmore Bell, RCH Jones Consulting, Studio Architecture, and Calcon Constructors.
