On September 7, the City Council of Fort Collins will issue a Proclamation in recognition of Housing Catalyst’s 50th anniversary. Over the past five decades, Housing Catalyst has transformed neighborhoods, provided stable homes for families, and built community in Northern Colorado.

“We are grateful to have such a longstanding, quality partnership with Housing Catalyst who shares our values and serves residents so well”, said Mayor Jeni Arndt. “Partnerships such as these make our city great!”

The agency, originally known as the Fort Collins Housing Authority, was formed in 1971 with a resolution by the Fort Collins City Council. Housing Catalyst has since grown into a mission-driven real estate developer that owns, manages, and was instrumental in the creation of more than 1,600 local residences, making it the community leader in sustainable, long-term affordable housing solutions.

“Housing Catalyst is a leader in all aspects of the affordable housing industry,” said Housing Catalyst Board of Commissioners Chairperson Cathy Mathis. “They are consistently recognized for their beautiful, sustainably-developed communities, as well as the innovative services that empower and equip residents for success.”

Housing Catalyst is poised to continue providing innovative, sustainable, community-focused solutions to address the growing need for affordable homes in Northern Colorado. Earlier this year they opened their second permanent supportive housing community, Mason Place, which offers 60 apartments and support services for people who had previously experienced homelessness. In September, Housing Catalyst will break ground on a new community in partnership with the Downtown Development Authority. Oak 140 will offer an affordable rental option for those who work downtown and earn below the area median income.

“We will continue to use our resources and expertise to develop partnerships and communities in Northern Colorado,” said Housing Catalyst Chief Executive Officer Julie Brewen. “As the demand for homes that are affordable continues to grow, we want to offer living options that boost our economy, increase community health and well-being, and bring residents together.”
